So, turns out that I was wrong when I said 2017 was the best one yet. At that time, yes I was right when I said it. But now being a few months into 2018, man was I wrong. I know I didn't blog much in 2017. I'll go back every now and then and add some things. BUT I'm kind of in the mindset of the past is the past. Everything happens for a reason. So let it be and live your life! I promise to keep this year updated more often. The posts will start from the beginning of the year(the bottom), and as I update, the newer posts will be towards the top. Some will have pictures, some will just be me talking! Email me in the contact section if you want me to do anything different, or even talk about certain things!

Getting to go to a middle school and seeing Marvin talk to kids about where they can go in life, makes me so happy. What all this is, is him and his friends(stunt performers) were asked if they can go to a panel, or event to talk to kids about the opportunities they have in the entertainment business. Black Panther was shot in Atl and these guys had the chance to work on it. Also the new two part Avengers they just finished filming and more. These kids have shown interest in the entertainment industry, and the guys were there to encourage them to pursue dreams and to never give up. I didn't get to go to the first one, but the second one was super humbling to witness.

Welcome! This was a short I had put on tape for back in the beginning of the year. Three days later I receive an email saying I got a callback. I get to the callback, I read alone, and then they pair me with the guys they were casting for the other lead. I actually ended up reading with Tyler, we did the Ford commercial together last summer. It was super comfortable and went so smooth since the chemistry was already there. When we were done, I was asked if I could hang back and read with another guy. Same thing happened, at the end they asked if I could stay one more time. So after the fourth time of me reading and the third guy, they said I was done. I left that room feeling super confident in my performance considering they did not ask any other girl to stay back and read with anyone else. About a month goes by and I hear nothing. When I was finally starting to forget about it and move on, my agent says I'm first choice I'll know soon. Three days later, on a Sunday night I get an email... "You booked Kim! Can you come in town for a table read tomorrow?" Freaking out!!!!!! I couldn't make it back to Atlanta until Tuesday because I had jury duty... Long story short we ended up having the table read Thursday night and we filmed the next three days. All night shoots.... The last two pictures shows where our minds were at the end of it haha. But honestly, this experience just reminded me why I do this. Why I love this industry and why I work so hard and don't let any rejections get to me. Getting your own colored tape, having a character name, a lead role, getting to close the clapper... those things may not seem like much, but they mean everything to me. Tripp Crosby, thank you for this opportunity. It made my soul really happy.
ALSO this was my FIRST kissing scene.... soooo stay tuned... |
I've booked a few roles. Mostly small. Which I am totally not knocking down. I am so thankful for any and every opportunity I'm given. But this was my first "Table Read". I know most of the time those are done like in a conference room, with the whole big cast and producers and maybe some people on skype. But this one was small, at the writers house and perfect. It was more of a rehearsal than a table read since were just sitting in chairs in a living room. But it was so exciting. I booked a lead in a short film called Welcome... more details in next post.

So for the collaboration I wanted the perfect photographer. And that's when I found Caitlin. We took the day, went to New Smyrna Beach and had a blast. Here are some of the finished photos. There are more in my portfolio section. If you want to check out her work, her instagram and website is...

Here's the first post I'm going to write without photos! Most of you know that I have been spending a lot of my time in Atlanta. Auditioning like crazy, waiting for that first big booking to start me off. At the beginning of the year I was doing really well. Getting callbacks, chemistry reads and really good feedback. But still waiting for that call. So I thought maybe I needed to branch out, get more opportunities and try to push myself even more. All actors out there know how hard it is to branch out into a bigger city. Especially somewhere like LA or NY because they're union states. Plus they have a lot more competition. Well, one day I said "what the hell, worst they can say is no". So then I sent out a bunch of emails, had some friends refer me, and really just put myself out there. I got some "no's", some "come back when you are more developed", and a LOTTTT of no responses. And then came along a response from Scott Silver with Silver Mass Entertainment. Wanting to know more information. And when I didn't respond within the hour(I was in a movie), I received an audition for a series regular in a HUGE new series. No I did not get it, but to have that opportunity was so humbling and thrilling to say the least. Every since that day, I have been working with Scott and his team and I could not thank them enough. They took me in without even meeting me, believed in me to send me some pretty meaty auditions. And even when I am not booking yet, they still believe in me enough to keep sending them my way. I am so thankful for every opportunity God has given me. Even if I'm not booking just yet, I am so stoked and blessed to even have the chance. Everything happens for a reason and I know my time is coming. I know I just have to trust in God's plan and keep hustling! :)

Then I worked a day on Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell. I was a milk & honey girl...... I can't upload any pictures until the episode airs. But you guys are DEF in for a treat. I showed up to set not really sure what we were doing. I didn't have any lines. But our action was.... lets just say messy for now.
